Specially-Manufactured Heavy-Duty Walker Keeps Disabled Man Moving Forward

Considering the young man's size and his weight, it isn't surprising that he would demolish virtually every walker on the market that he tried. At over six feet tall and well over 200 pounds, the 28 year-old severely disabled son of a former window washer at Ferry Machine's facility could not find a walker that would last because of his unknowing use of the walker and his exceptional strength.

Ferry Machine was able to come to his rescue. While the appearance of the walker was not a factor, its ability to withstand the extreme forces to which it would be subjected was of utmost importance. So, working with his father, Ferry machinists designed and built a super-strong walker with oversized wheels and stainless steel construction that was able to accommodate the physically disabled man's size and abuse. This new walker has worked so well that the company is reconstructing his old walker in the same fashion. Both the father and the son are thrilled with the results.

We're pleased in this case that such results help make life somewhat easier for this physically challenged man. We like to think that the dedication we apply to every project in terms of service, design and inventiveness comes standard at Ferry Machine.
